Golden Nuggets of Danville is on the path to opening its doors to the public; this will be the next casino to launch operations in the Illinois casino market. Just a week ago, the developers of the property handed over to the city authorities a check of $1 million. This gesture is in partial fulfillment of the Host Community Agreement Golden Nugget made with the city. It has already been decided that the funds will be channeled into developing the city’s riverfront.
The two developers, the Wilmot Family and Wilmorite Construction, agreed that they would make donations to the tune of $3 million. Once the donations have hit the projected mark, the funds will be divided between the riverfront development, the Boys and Girls Club of Danville, and the Danville Municipal Project. The presentation of the check was done during a preview of the upcoming casino. In attendance were approximately 25 people.
Every gambling enthusiast is waiting for the grand opening of the casino whose location is 204 Eastgate Drive in Danville. To mention that the local leaders are excited at the prospects that the casino is bringing is an understatement; Danville Casino is a darling even before it goes live. According to Danville Mayor, Rickey Williams Jr, the casino is going to impress all those that will come close to its vicinity. Speaking to a member of the press, Williams revealed that he was personally eager to experience what the casino has in store for the market.
Asked by the president of Danville Development about what he thought of the property, the mayor was lost for words but managed to blurt out just how incredible he thought it was. In attendance at the sneak preview were local aldermen; they too are convinced that the project is going to cause a stir in the market. By any standard, the Golden Nugget casino in Danville is a work in progress; although the outline is indicative of a magnificent piece of workmanship, a lot of what the inside will comprise will take the clients by surprise.
Those who visit the property site have to navigate between wires hanging from the ceiling and ladders. All this is proof that the casino has paid for the construction work which is ongoing and will be completed within the set schedule. As would be expected, all new casinos have staff already working inside. The casino has already begun the hiring process for those who will be engaged in different activities within the casino. Those who were familiar with the first dealer are aware that there were over 40 dealers –the casino is hopeful that they will have a dealer population of 100 plus a host of other workers from the day it opens.

About Golden Nugget casino in Danville
There is no official communication as to when the operations of Golden Nugget Danville will be launched, but recent updates from the developer are encouraging. On a tour of the premises which was carried out a week ago, Wilmot reported that it was possible that the property will be launched in a few months. Once the casino is launched and runs at full capacity, it will house a total of 500 slot machines and 14 table games. Some of the key traditional games that will be offered by the casino include roulette, craps, 3-card poker, blackjack, and baccarat.
Sportsbook lovers will have their corner at the Danville Casino because a sportsbook is one of the planned facilities for the property. This inclusion is in anticipation that Golden Nugget will launch an Illinois online sports betting site under its tethered license. Whether the sportsbook will adopt retail betting or online transacting, the convenience of sports betting will become a reality for gambling enthusiasts at this location.
Even though the Golden Nugget Danville project is receiving a lot of attention, there is a long line of new Illinois casino projects. Most recently in February, the Temporary by American Place in Waukegan opened its doors to the public.
The property received over 40,000 guests within the first 12 days of opening. It is possible that the numbers could go up in the coming months since the Temporary plans to open up 24/7 operations in the near future. Additionally, more tables should be added in the coming weeks to have the area ready for players. New restaurants have also booked space within the complex and their establishment is in process.
In the meantime, it has been revealed that Bally’s is working on having its temporary property opened in Chicago. The Medinah Temple is expected to open in June to allow players to engage with the company’s products but the main focus is on the permanent property in River West. This grand development is expected to open in 2026 and will feature several restaurants, customized entertainment spaces, and a full casino floor.
According to industry analysts, three casino properties could launch before the end of 2023;
- Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort in Williamson County is planned to open in 2023
- A permanent Hard Rock Rockford casino is planned to open in the last quarter of 2023 (the Hard Rock: Opening Act temporary casino opened in 2021)
- Wind Creek Chicago Southland Casino on the border between Homewood and East Hazel Crest is planned to open in the last quarter 2023 or the first quarter of 2024

As the number of states with legal gambling operations keeps rising, so does the tax revenue that goes to fund state projects and initiatives. The local administration in Danville is obviously excited at the launch of a new casino business. Considering that an established brand is behind it, this development can only mean progress for the state.
